I just learned that there is a movie being made of Winter in the Blood, James Welch’s outstanding novel about Indian reservation life along the Hi-Line in Montana. For the uninitiated, the Hi-Line refers to the northern and eastern parts of Montana, particularly up near the Canadian border. It’s an area rich in history and culture, not to mention excellent Great Plains splendor.
Please click this link, and watch the following video about the film adaptation of the novel. I think it highlights some of the fantastic scenery and sturdy people that live in this region of the Great Plains.

Another recent Montana film that also features the highline is “Class C: The Only Game in Town.” It does a nice job of personalizing the plight of small town eastern Montana.
Thanks Kevin! I’ll check that one out as well. If I recall correctly, you’re a MT native, right?
I am a native Montanan. My college roommate (MSU) was a native of Inverness, MT on the hi-line.
