Happy New Year from the Great Plains Trail!
I’m excited for the new year because I’m excited about another year of progress on the GPT. I’m looking forward to routing and mapping more trail and encouraging people to get out there and experience the Great Plains. For those of us who love the Great Plains, we know it’s one of the most stunning landscapes in the world. But it’s not only beautiful – it has incredible wildlife, and unparalleled history as well. There are so many reasons to come experience the Great Plains! That’s the main goal of the GPT – to link together as many amazing places as possible in one long trail so that people can see just what a treasure this place is.
2014 will be another year to put “boots on the ground,” literally. We’ll be spying out scenic spots that we can connect to make a continuous route, and sometime later in the year, we will launch another section of trail to go with our first section, “Fort Toad.” See the following link for more information on this section:
Thanks to everyone who helped us out in 2013. I hope you’re as excited as I am for 2014 – because there’s plenty more to come . . . so be sure to tell someone you know about us – it’s time to get more people out there to enjoy the Great Plains!
Once again . . . Happy New Year!
