This is National Grasslands Week.  There are 20 National Grasslands nationwide and almost all of them are in the Great Plains.  National Grasslands are administered by the Department of Agriculture, which is also responsible for National Forests.

All this week, I will be posting overviews of some of the Grasslands that may exist near you.  In talking with representatives from various National Grasslands around the Great Plains, I have learned that they share a common goal of increasing recreation opportunities and encouraging more people to view Grasslands as a place to hike/bike/horseback ride/and camp.  We at Great Plains Trail Aliance could not agree more. Below is a link to the wiki for all of the National Grasslands – find one near you and go exploring!
